Energy Statements
Energy Statements are required to accompany most planning applications these days. The Energy Statement will provide a clear explanation of the site’s energy strategy, providing special emphasis on showing how the proposed development meets the local council’s
requirements.

Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH) assessments
The Code for Sustainable Homes is not mandatory, but is often request by the local authorities as part of a planning application. A CSH assessment covers all aspects of the sustainability of a development including CO2 emissions, material selection, water consumption, ecology, etc.
Maven Sustainability is qualified by the BRE to offer this service.
BREEAM Assessments
The BRE’s Environmental Assessment Methodology is not mandatory, but is often request by the local authorities as part of a planning application. Part L compliance – residential developments: SAP
Part L is a building regulation which provides minimum standards in terms of carbon emission levels, u-values, and overheating. It is only possible to demonstrate compliance with Part L through a computer model of the development. SAP is the software required for residential properties.
Maven Sustainability is qualified by JPA SAP to offer this service.
Optimising of building orientation and percentage of glazing
The optimal percentage of glazing on any facade of any building is affected by five factors: buidling usage patterns, heating demand, cooling demand, glazing type, and the artificial lighting demand. Based on building orientation, the building use, the glazing type, and the efficiency of the heating and cooling systems for a given building the optimal percentage of glazing will vary. Maven Sustainability will produce a thermal energy model of a building in order to determine the optimal orientation of the building and to determine the optimal percentage of glazing. Please see Royal Mail case study.
Renewable energy / energy efficiency grants advice and feasibility studies.
Some of our clients are not interested in planning requirements, but rather are looking for ways to reduce their energy demand and carbon emissions from their existing buildings.
Maven Sustainability is always up to date with the latest available government grants and is capable of performing the financial calculations to provide the tools for our clients to make the best decision for them.

We will provide the complete M&E and sustainability design for any type of project up to Stage C
Part L compliance – commercial developments: SBEM
Part L is a building regulation which provides minimum standards in terms of carbon emission levels, u-values, and overheating. It is only possible to demonstrate compliance with Part L through a computer model of the development. SBEM is the software required for commercial properties.
